We're looking for a high-energy, entrepreneurial
Sales Director
to lead our
Private Brands sales team.
This isn't a desk-bound role - we want someone who thrives on being out in the market, opening doors, creating opportunities, and securing deals that others wouldn't spot.
As Sales Director - Private Brands, you will be accountable for setting and delivering the Private Brands sales strategy, and delivering the commercial targets. You will play a critical role in driving commercial success, opening new opportunities, growing key accounts, deploying your B2B marketing skills and leading a talented sales team. Your work will contribute directly to Matrix's ambitious growth and vision of building standout consumer brands.
Alongside your own commercial delivery, you'll lead and develop a talented team, creating a culture of ambition, accountability, and winning together. You'll collaborate closely across our internal Matrix teams, ensuring we deliver stand-out propositions that retailers want on shelf now.
What you'll do:
Lead and deliver the Private Brands commercial performance and strategy
* Set and achieve ambitious sales and margin targets, and translate them into clear, actionable plans
* Ensure accurate commercial forecasting and reporting
* Define and execute the sales strategy
* Develop a robust pipeline of new retail partners and commercial opportunities
* Define how we show up with key accounts - from pitch to launch to growth
Be the catalyst that opens doors and seals the deal
* Build and nurture relationships with key buyers, decision-makers, and commercial stakeholders
* Craft compelling commercial proposals that speak to retailer needs and consumer demand
* Negotiate and close deals that deliver mutual value
* Identify gaps, trends, data and market insights to continually refine audience targeting, positioning, and campaign performance
* Build business plans that deliver sustained, long-term growth
* Define and lead the end-to-end B2B marketing strategy aligned with business growth objectives
* Design and implement demand generation campaigns that support sales pipeline targets
* Keep the business up to speed on competitor activity and market shifts
* Establish clear reporting mechanisms to track marketing impact on commercial outcomes
Lead and develop the team
* Inspire, coach, and empower the Sales team
* Create a high-performance culture that celebrates wins and learns fast
* Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support career development
Collaborate and deliver
* Work cross-functionally with teams across Matrix and beyond to bring propositions to life
* Ensure seamless handover from deal close to delivery and ongoing account management
* Own reporting and forecasting - keeping the business fully informed of performance, risks, and opportunities
What you'll bring:
* A proven track record of winning major new business — you don't just follow leads, you create them
* Experience in
beauty, FMCG, consumer goods
, or related sectors
* A natural deal-maker — confident in negotiations, resilient in the face of challenges, and driven by outcomes
* A trend-spotter — always thinking ahead about where the consumer and retailer will be next
* Strong commercial instincts and strategic thinking, combined with a hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up approach
* Experience managing and developing high-performing sales teams
* A strong network and experience working with value, mass, and/or global retailers (e.g. supermarkets, discounters, high street chains)
* Excellent influencing and communication skills — able to engage buyers, internal teams, and senior stakeholders
