An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Emergency Quadrant Ward Clerk to join the Emergency Care Directorate’s Administration Team at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
Main Responsibilities
* Be the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors to the Acute Assessment Unit.
* Provide efficient clerical assistance to the Emergency Quadrant to ensure speedy admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
* Maintain strict confidentiality and deal with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion.
* Work with the Ward Managers to provide an efficient clerical service across the Emergency Quadrant.
* Work under the direct responsibility of the Administration Manager for accountability and development purposes.
* Provide support cover in other areas of the Emergency Quadrant when required.
Requirements
* Good standard of education.
* Previous experience in an administrative/customer service setting.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team and be efficient and organised.
* Ability to speak Welsh is essential.
* Previous ward clerk experience and knowledge of WPAS desirable but not essential.
Person Specification
* Essential criteria:
o Maths/English GCSE or equivalent experience.
o Sufficient months previous clerical/office/reception/ward duties.
o Working with the public.
o Working in a busy environment.
o IT computer literate.
o Effective communication skills.
o Welsh Language.
o Ability to work without direct supervision.
o Team player.
* Desirable criteria:
o NVQ 2 in administration.
o NVQ in customer service.
o ECDL.
o General experience of admin functions.
o WPAS/Casenote tracking/WCP/RADIS.
o Understanding of the importance of maintaining medical records.
o Data protection and confidentiality.
