BARROW OR SHEFFIELD based
Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for a contract position. This role, reporting to the Systems Engineering Function Lead within the Weapon Systems Engineering function, will require you to work from either Barrow or Sheffield, with occasional onsite work (1-2 days per month).
Key Responsibilities:
Capture and translate user needs, stakeholder needs and CONOPS
Convert CONOPS into MBSE use cases and activity/sequence diagrams
Build MBSE architecture (form/function/behaviour) and allocate requirements
Lead requirements development (derivation, decomposition, traceability)
Develop and manage interface requirements and Interface Control
Drive integration from component level through system level
Lead/support Verification & Validation activities and planning
Act as a key technical interface to customers, suppliers and internal design teams (SW/Mech/Elec)
Support governance, continuous improvement and adherence to standards/best practice
Job Requirements:
Understanding of Health and Safety awareness, including Product Safety
Product Design knowledge in military or harsh environments
Ability to make analytical decisions based on facts and data
Effective communication skills across all levels and with internal/external stakeholders
Experience in facilitating collaboration and co-operation within a team
Proficiency in design review facilitation and requirement reviews
Working knowledge of technical office process standards
Experience with Systems Engineering tools and techniques, including Requirements Management and MBSE
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Good management skills including task management and delegation
Effective team-working abilities
Experience in a multi-disciplined development environment
Willingness to travel overseas and familiarity with MoD/DoD organisations
Skills & experience required
Strong Systems Engineering background across full lifecycle (concept → qualification → implementation)
Proven experience with MBSE and requirements management
Comfortable running/facilitating design reviews and formal requirements reviews
Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering environments
Awareness of security implications of technical material
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Desirable / nice to have
Cameo Systems Modeller (Dassault Systèmes)
SysML
Simulation & stimulation exposure
Teamcenter (PLM) / SAP (ERP) awareness
Jira task management
Knowledge of MoD/DoD organisations / direct customer & supplier liaison
Qualifications:
A degree in a relevant Engineering discipline with significant Systems Engineering experience
Meeting the requirements for registration as an incorporated or chartered engineer, preferably a member of a relevant professional body
