We are looking for someone to teach a weekly Pilates class, during term time, to adults with additional learning support needs attending Northern Ballet’s Ability programme.
The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in helping to deliver the artistic programme and future success of Northern Ballet’s Ability programme. Using your own previous experience as a Pilates instructor, you will contribute to the highest quality of training for dancers with additional learning support needs to develop their strength, flexibility, and body awareness.
The ideal candidate will deliver a practice which celebrates our dancers individuality and supports them to find efficient and functional movement to develop their body awareness and contribute to their technical dance development.
Job Description
Qualifications and Experience
1. Must have experience teaching Mat Based Pilates to adults of all ages and abilities, and provide necessary modifications for individuals.
2. Hold a recognised Pilates qualification.
3. A clear understanding of Safeguarding Adults at Risk.
4. Experience of teaching dance is desirable, but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
5. To structure and teach a one-hour weekly Pilates session for Ability dancers.
6. To provide varied and appropriate class material.
7. Maintain appropriate staff/student relationships by adhering to Northern Ballet’s Safeguarding Policy.
8. To provide feedback at the end of each term to discuss student progress and discuss future aims and direction of Pilates classes.

10. Pilates classes take place in a dance studio, without access to a reformer.
11. All participants have access to basic equipment, such as a mat, various balls, and TheraBands. If further equipment is required to deliver any aspects of your practice, this can be discussed at interview.
12. Either two and three dance artists are in the studio during classes to support the participants where necessary.
13. This is a freelance contract awarded on a term-by-term basis.

10:30–11:30 every Friday during term time.
