Job description, Main duties:

To provide a range of marketing and communications support to the College's internal customers, as well as

actively raising the profile of the College in the external environment, delivering coherent and consistent copy and tone, aligned to our mission and values. You will also lead on various events and communications activities to a variety of audiences.

Events

* Lead on planning, implementing and evaluating a broad range of events for various audiences (e.g. open events, awards ceremonies), from booking/registration through to post-event communications
* Ensure excellent and timely communication and service to our colleagues and external suppliers throughout the event planning process
* Conduct post-event evaluations to strive and continually improve the event and visitor experience
* Work flexibly to support and deliver events outside of standard business hours, as required

Coordination

* Be a point of contact for the Marketing Team's internal customers, including curriculum staff and business support departments - working to obtain project briefs, including audience, budget, objectives and delivery timelines
* Brief the project / job into the relevant member of the team, and where relevant, act as the conduit between the marketing team and internal departments
* Using project management skills, manage multiple projects to successful completion, keeping all relevant parties informed
* Support the Marketing Manager and wider marketing team on projects when required

Communications

* Support the delivery of e-communications activities for various internal and external audiences, including parents/carers and prospective students
* Write and distribute news stories and press releases that align to the College's values and which celebrate its staff, students or initiatives, and in doing so help to support the College's mission, strategic objectives and recruitment targets
* Handle ad hoc press and media enquiries and requests, supporting in the management of any PR and communications crisis management and recovery
* Ensure that written copy, tone and style is consistent and aligned to the College's brand and values, and ensure the copy style guidelines are regularly reviewed

Metrics

* Routinely analyse and report on data insight and analytics and present these to the team and wider colleagues
* Ensure that activity aligns to overall student recruitment targets and increasing reach, or a specific objective identified by the Marketing Manager
* Ensure that products and outputs demonstrate consideration for environmental impact and demonstrate value for money and return on investment

Welsh focus

* Ensure a 'Welsh first' approach, ensuring that all outputs are delivered either bilingually or in both Welsh and English, as required by each brief and the intended audience, aligned to the Welsh Language Standards
* Ensure that Welsh language developments and achievements are strategically positioned externally to raise the profile of the College's work in this area

As a term of your employment, you may be required to undertake other duties on College sites or elsewhere as may be reasonably required.

Duties and responsibilities of all job posts are periodically reviewed to ensure that they relate and reflect the scope of the position. The College may update and incorporate any necessary amendments from time to time.

Person specification

Essential

* Fluent in both oral and written Welsh (Level 5 Standard)
* Qualified at Level 3 or above, or equivalent experience
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects at any one time
* Evidence of delivering excellent customer service, ensuring projects are delivered as per the brief, on time and within budget
* Ability to offer creative solutions to briefs and to problem-solve using initiative
* Experience of writing for different audiences and purposes
* Excellent proofreading, copywriting and editing skills
* Demonstrable experience of event planning and management
* Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
* Excellent IT skills
* Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm approach

Desirable

* Experience of using a CRM system
* Membership of CIM or CIPR
* Project management qualification
* Experience of working within a Google Workspace environment
* Experience of working within the post-compulsory education sector
* Understanding of the Welsh Language Standards and associated requirements
* Budget management responsibilities
