The Acute Services Directorate is seeking to appoint a Clinical Lead for Doctors in Training.
This post will augment a team of medical clinical leads to support the delivery of a whole system approach to person centred scheduled and unscheduled care.
The post holder will provide, leadership and management support to their specialty, as a member of the wider Directorate Clinical and Service Management Team. The key deliverables of this post include supporting the trainee workforce, to deliver the objectives agreed by Medical Education supported by NES and the Deanery while providing safe and effective service delivery for acute In-patient care. The post holder will also ensure that the relevant policies and guidance are adhered to in respect of all leave.
The Clinical Leads will participate in the wider whole system working taking forward system objectives as agreed with the Medical Director, Medical Director for Education and Associate Medical Directors.
As a member of the Directorate Management team, the Clinical Lead will work collaboratively to provide support in the day to day running of his/her area of responsibility working with the respective administrative and operational teams.
Key results areas will include performance management, clinical leadership, clinical quality, quality improvement, risk management and service management of specialty. Specifically, the Clinical Lead will:
* Provide leadership in conjunction with Clinical Director/Service/Department Managers.
* Ensure Junior Doctor rota, timetable, annual leave, teaching and training issues are delivered whilst in specialty.
* Work collaboratively with Medical Education teams, Service, Operational and administrative leads to optimise good governance and reporting systems which can be used to inform future service development.
* There will be opportunities for leadership development training and support.
Applications are welcomed from appropriately qualified and experienced medical staff working within the Medical Directorate.
Skills and knowledge
* Understanding of NHS policies, especially those relating to working hours, rest, and leave entitlement
* Awareness of staffing needs to different medical specialties and specific requirements of junior doctors
* Awareness of health and safety requirements relating to rest, wellbeing etc.
* Understanding of the terms and conditions of junior doctor contract and new deal, including training requirements and mandated rest periods
Previous rota management experience desirable/required
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances including emergency changes
Maintaining confidentiality
This is a fixed term post and will be subject to annual review, during which discussion job description content will be reviewed.
