Our Vision is to provide the best mental health, learning disability, autism, community, and physical health services for the populations we serve.

As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:

* Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
* Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
* Extensive community physical health and well‑being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long‑term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

The post holder will undertake appropriate mental health assessment and clinical intervention for children and young people referred to service. The post holder will hold high risk cases within the Team, monitor, review and appropriately develop Care Plan for these young people.

The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person. The post holder will provide clinical supervision to other members of staff within the CYPMH East Team. The post holder will be involved in team development, audit and quality initiatives within the CYPMH East.


Main duties of the job

Work as an integral part of a consultant‑led specialist CAMHS sector team.

Undertake assessments of problems and provide appropriate therapeutic interventions and advice to children and/or their families/carers.

Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, in addition to working as a sole practitioner, contributing to assessment and treatment decisions.

Ensure that clinical work is determined by best evidence‑based practice and available guidelines, displays clear and logical structure in its implementation and is subject to reflection and evaluation.

Deliver services within a hospital setting and community venues.

Provide clinical supervision to other practitioners within the Service.

Be involved in service audits and service development initiatives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

CYPMH East is part of the Children and Young People’s Mental Health provision within Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust. East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Service (ELCAS) and Children and Young People’s Psychology Service (CYPPS) recently merged (October 1st 2025) to form CYPMH East. This is an exciting time of service development as it has created a single point of access for NHS children’s mental health within East Lancashire.

CYPMH East has a range of mental health provision including a Primary Mental Health Team, Mental Health Support Teams across the localities, three Complex Sector Teams, and a Day Unit. We are a consultant‑led service and we emphasise the strength of working in a multi‑disciplinary way. Our main base is at Burnley General Hospital.

At CYPMH East our vision is to be a centre of excellence providing high quality Child and Adolescent psychological and mental health services that exceed people's expectations. We have been accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Quality Network for Community CAMHS (QNCC) since 2016 and have been rated Outstanding with the CQC.


Person specification


Education

* RMN/CQSW/DipSW/BSc.OT or other relevant professional qualification
* Evidence of significant experience in Childrens or Adult Mental Health Service provision


Knowledge

* High standards of accuracy. Evidence of working with childhood, emotional and psychological development. MDT working


Experience

* Experience of working as a Mental Health Practitioner
* Experience of offering supervision within a Mental health setting
* Experience of working with young people or adults that present with high risk mental health presentations or behaviour
* Ability to assess, manage, Care Plan and review high risk mental health presentations.
