Job Title: FSIG Auditor
Location: Field/Home-Based (UK & International Travel)

Reporting To: FSIG Field Team Manager
Role Overview
The FSIG Auditor plays a key role in safeguarding the M&S brand, ensuring supply chain integrity and food safety. You will conduct audits against M&S Food Safety and Integrity Standards, representing both FSSI Group and M&S with professionalism. A comprehensive induction and training programme will be provided prior to approval by FSIG and M&S technical teams. The role includes UK, European, and long-haul international travel.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct audits in line with defined standards and procedures, maintaining accurate records via online systems.
* Deliver timely, high-quality audit reports aligned with business KPIs.
* Stay informed on technical developments and legislative changes in the food sector.
* Maintain current knowledge of company policies and procedures.
* Support initiatives such as standards reviews, benchmarking, and client engagement.
* Contribute to innovation through horizon scanning and client discovery.
* Ensure exceptional customer service and prompt, accurate responses to client queries.
Professional Conduct
* Maintain independence and impartiality; avoid unauthorised consultancy or training.
* Uphold confidentiality and integrity in all audit activities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Food Science or equivalent industry experience.
* Minimum 10 years post-graduate experience in technical management, QA, auditing, or food safety.
* Strong HACCP knowledge, ideally certified via a Codex Alimentarius-based course.
* Expertise in multiple food manufacturing processes (e.g., High Risk, HPP, Thermo Processing/Canning).
* Experience with M&S or its supply chain is advantageous.

* Proven ability to identify food safety risks and proactively support supplier compliance.
* Effective communicator across all the various levels of the manufacturing process and supply chain leadership
* Self-motivated and collaborative team player.
* Experience in fast-paced environments with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
* Capable of managing workload efficiently to meet service standards.
Additional Requirements
* Flexibility for UK and international travel; a valid passport and a UK (or equivalent) driving licence are required.
* Willingness to work outside standard hours as needed.
* Ability to handle confidential information with sound judgment.
* Perform other relevant duties as required.
