Training Centre Manager

Are you a Post-16 Manager looking for a new challenge?

The Growth Company’s (GC) Education and Skills team has an exciting opportunity for a Training Centre Manager to lead the performance and success of a dynamic Training Centre and its dedicated team.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in post-16 education, including study programmes, traineeships, and employability pathways. You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering vocational and employability training that meets the needs of learners aged 16+ and aligns with employer expectations, funding requirements, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the strategic and operational management of a post-16 training centre, ensuring high-quality delivery and learner outcomes.
2. Develop and implement service area plans, translating them into detailed delivery schedules and performance targets.
3. Use management information (MI) to monitor progress and take corrective action to meet KPIs.
4. Drive curriculum innovation that is financially sustainable, quality-assured, and responsive to the needs of 16–19 learners, adult learners, and employers.
5. Build strong partnerships with employers and stakeholders to inform curriculum design and identify growth opportunities.
6. Manage and support delivery teams, ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and quality standards.
7. Oversee learner case management, including attendance, behaviour, and progression planning.
8. Ensure continuous quality improvement through walkthroughs, QIPs, and audit readiness.
9. Manage financial performance, including achieving income targets (., £600K), budget control, and contract compliance.

About You:

10. A strategic and motivational leader with a proven track record in post-16 education management.
11. Experienced in managing 16–19 study programmes, adult learning, and/or apprenticeships.
12. Passionate about learner success, with a strong focus on inclusion, progression, and employability.
13. Operationally hands-on, with the ability to lead by example and support day-to-day delivery.
14. A confident communicator who builds trust with learners, staff, and external partners.
15. Committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and high standards of delivery.
16. Skilled in managing diverse teams and driving performance through coaching and accountability.

Skills & Experience:

17. Qualified and experienced teacher with a strong track record in post-16 education leadership.
18. Postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE), Maths and English qualification.
19. Strong planning, organisational, and project management skills.
20. Proven ability to manage staff performance, development, and recruitment.
21. Experience in designing and delivering funded and commercial education programmes.
22. Skilled in curriculum development for post-16 learners, including bespoke employer-led models.
23. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
24. Proficient in using MI to inform strategic decisions and drive improvement.
25. In-depth knowledge of funding rules, awarding body requirements, and audit processes.
