The Faraday Institution is the UK's independent institute for electrochemical energy storage research, skills development, market analysis and early-stage commercialisation. It brings together research scientists and industry partners to work on large projects with commercial potential that will reduce battery cost, weight, and volume; improve performance and reliability; and develop whole-life strategies including recycling and reuse. The organisation manages large research programmes across 25 universities and spanning a network of 500+ researchers and 140+ industry partners across the UK.

The Role

We are looking for a Training Coordinator to support the Head of Training and Talent Development in delivering high-quality training programmes that develop a skilled and diverse talent pipeline for the battery and energy storage sectors.

This position would suit an individual with an interest or experience in higher education administration and/or the training sector and who thrives on working in a fast-paced environment on a variety of projects simultaneously. An interest in science, technology and sustainability would also be highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

* Take the lead in coordinating and facilitating in-person and online training courses, including the Faraday Institution PhD Training Programme and the Faraday Undergraduate Summer Experience (FUSE). You'll be responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day delivery, and being the main point of contact during training events, with strategic guidance and support from the Head of Training and Talent development.
* Manage end-to-end event logistics, including venue bookings, registrations, and ensuring accessibility needs of participants are met.
* Monitor budgets and ensure training activities are delivered cost-effectively, with robust evaluation and reporting processes in place.
* Gather feedback, measure impact, and help continuously improve future training.
* Support and take minutes at key meetings, such as the Training and Diversity Panel.
* Support wider organisational initiatives such as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), early career researcher development, outreach, and other activities that may occasionally fall outside your core responsibilities. We are a small, agile team that takes a collaborative approach to delivering our programme.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present to and engage confidently with a wide range of audiences including undergraduates, researchers, academics and industry stakeholders.
* Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong initiative and problem-solving skills with the ability to overcome challenges and complete tasks to a high standard.
* Excellent project and time management skills, ensuring milestones and deliverables are achieved.
* Willingness to travel within the UK for training events (overnight stays approximately four weeks per year).

Desirable

* Experience in higher education, scientific research, training and/or event management.
* A genuine interest in helping undergraduates, PhD and early-career researchers reach their full potential.
* Ability to work remotely and independently, while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with demonstrable experience of working flexibly and adapting quickly to new situations. Proven ability to prioritise workloads, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
* A willingness to grow into the role as PhD and other programmes expand.

Why Join Us?

* This is a great opportunity to contribute to a national mission to electrify and decarbonise the UK. You'll gain experience across training, events, outreach and communications, with room to grow in a role, which will continue to evolve alongside the organisation's training provision. You'll join a small, social and friendly team, and have access to a training budget for continuing professional development.
