Job Title: Chef – Agency Cover (Hospice)
Location: Darlington
Rate: £12.56 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary / Agency Cover
Working Hours: 9am until 6pm on Sunday 25th May 2025.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS TO COVER A SHIFT ON SUNDAY 25TH MAY – 9AM UNTIL 6PM.

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Chef to provide agency cover at a local hospice. This role involves preparing and serving high-quality, nutritious meals to patients, visitors, and staff in a sensitive and respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities:
2. Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of balanced meals tailored to the dietary requirements of hospice guests
3. Ensure meals are delivered on time and in line with individual needs and preferences
4. Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness at all times
5. Work collaboratively with hospice staff to ensure a smooth and respectful dining service
6. Manage stock levels and maintain records as required
7. Follow all relevant policies, including food safety, infection control, and safeguarding
Essential Requirements:
8. Proven experience as a Chef in a health care, hospice, or similar environment
9. Up-to-date Food Hygiene & Safety certifications
10. Excellent understanding of dietary requirements, allergens, and nutrition
11. DBS check in place, with clearance against the Adults Barred List
12. Ability to work independently and sensitively within a care environment
13. Reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing needs
Desirable:
14. Previous experience working in palliative or end-of-life care settings
15. NVQ or equivalent qualification in Professional Cookery or Catering
