Behaviour management Teaching Assistant (Full Time) Location: Gosport Start Date: Jan/Feb 2026 Contract: Long-Term (potentially permanent) Institution: KS1 and 2 – Learning Support Department Pay: £85-£100 per day About the Role We are seeking a Specialist Teaching Assistant with behaviour management/regulatory training who has experience with those with additional needs who may need help to de-escalate. The appointed person will join a primary school in the Gosport area. This rewarding role involves supporting students with autism and additional needs both 1:1 and in small group settings, helping them to access learning and achieve their full potential. You will be working within the school’s Learning Support Department, alongside a committed team of staff who provide tailored interventions and guidance. The role will be starting from January or February 2026 with the school looking to make the position permanent for the right person. About the School The school has a strong reputation for inclusion and is recognised for its comprehensive Learning Support provision. The dedicated SEND team works closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. The Learning Support Department provides targeted support for students with a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning challenges. This provision reflects the school’s commitment to ensuring that students with additional needs are fully included in mainstream education, while receiving the specialist support they require. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 support to students with autism and additional needs. Support children to recognise their emotions and understand how to regulate and cope with challenging feelings Assist small groups of students in accessing lessons and structured activities. Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs. Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement personalised learning plans. Monitor progress and maintain accurate records. Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners. Requirements Previous experience supporting students with autism or additional needs (school or care setting). Strong understanding of autism, ADHD, and associated learning/behavioural needs. Previous training of PACE, Zones of Regulation, Team Teach, Price or other positive behaviour management techniques Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people. Excellent communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality practices. Enhanced DBS check (support available if required).
