Job Description:

Mental Health Assistant/Teaching Assistant – Summertown, Oxford

Great for Psychology/Counselling/Criminology Graduates! ASAP Start

Social, Emotional and Mental Health/Complex Needs

Primary Phase

Are you interested in supporting children with Mental Health issues?

Would you like to build your experience working with Complex Needs and work alongside trained therapists, counsellors and psychologists?

An outstanding specialist school for children with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs and Autism based in Summertown, Oxford are looking for a bright and enthusiastic Graduate to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with behaviour and mental health issues. Ideally the Graduate will have qualified in Psychology, Counselling or Criminology but other subjects will also be considered. Candidates with relevant experience will also be considered! The SEN School is in Summertown, Oxford and the role is full-time starting ASAP. The SEN children are aged 4 to 11 and require consistent, ongoing support in order to ensure they have the highest quality of care and child-centred support. Experience in a similar role would be desirable but not essential. Graduates in a similar field will also be considered (e.g. Psychology, Criminology etc).

This is a FANTASTIC opportunity for any Psychology Graduate to work alongside the therapists and psychologists based on-site at school. You will be mentored and have the opportunity to shadow sessions and learn from them. Plus you will gain invaluable experience working with Special Needs and Mental Health issues. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring educational or occupational psychologist, therapeutic support worker or SEN teacher.

The SEMH School is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant who can bring enthusiasm, passion and experience to the classroom. They are looking for a SEN TA who will be proactive and adaptable and be able to use their own initiative. Resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviour is desirable!
