We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join our team within Vistry East London, at our Brentwood office. As our Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting related to materials supply and plant for construction projects in your region. Working closely with the Commercial team, you will oversee the performance of the sites under your control.

What we expect from you…

* At least 5 GCSEs A-C, including English and Math
* Experience working in a buying role for a contractor or residential developer
* Knowledge of building regulations and legal obligations
* Understanding of construction methods and materials
* Familiarity with construction standards, environmental and sustainability standards
* Strong mathematical and IT skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Analytical skills and commercial acumen
* Budget management experience
* Negotiation and networking skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure and accept feedback
* Teamwork skills
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Willingness to go above and beyond when needed
Desirable qualifications include a degree or HNC/HND in Construction, membership of relevant professional bodies, and experience with COINS software.
Role responsibilities include…
* Managing and developing the Assistant Buyer
* Leading pre-start meetings and health & safety presentations
* Supporting innovation and new product research
* Assisting with sales specifications and procurement processes
* Negotiating prices and preparing cost reports
* Monitoring material and plant procurement, delivery, and costs
* Reading and interpreting drawings for material scheduling
* Ensuring compliance with budgets, specifications, and procurement policies
* Monitoring supplier performance and conducting regular reviews
* Managing stock levels, lead times, and material databases
* Overseeing tender processes and subcontractor performance
