Overview
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a full-time Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with an interest in Severe Asthma. This is a permanent contract commencing ASAP. The post is a substantive 10PA (7.25 DCC, 1.75 SPA, 1PA research) requiring full GMC registration.
Responsibilities
* Join a large, supportive department of 25 consultants with multiple sub-specialties and regional referral services.
* Inpatient and outpatient duties: 18 weeks of inpatient work across respiratory and general medicine; outpatient clinics in complex home ventilation, pleural disease, and COPD.
* Home ventilation service management across 400+ patients, supported by a multidisciplinary team.
* Pleural service involvement with outpatient procedures (thoracoscopy, ICD insertion) and inpatient support.
* Contribute to COPD services with an integrated team and links to community and primary care; participate in the regional lung volume reduction service.
* Research time initially focused on COPD-related clinical trials, with opportunities to expand; teaching opportunities within or beyond the medical school.

Role Details
This is a full-time post for a Consultant Respiratory Physician. The DCC:SPA ratio is 7.25:1.75 with 1PA of research time. The Respiratory Medicine component includes sessional commitments to outpatient pleural, NIV, COPD services, and general respiratory inpatient ward rounds (including unselected general medicine).
