About The Role
Our team:
The Debt Recovery team is part of the Domestic Debt department. It manages debt recovery activities through external agencies and collaborates with other departments to resolve issues affecting debt collection, especially supporting domestic collections for customers behind on energy bills. The team also handles bereavement accounts, insolvencies, and Power of Attorney recordings.
The role:
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. As Team Leader, you will oversee daily team management, support team members, monitor performance, coach, train, and plan succession. You will liaise with third-party partners, seek process efficiencies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, supporting audits as needed.
The role impacts business and customer outcomes, emphasizing accuracy and customer support in debt management.
What you will do:
* Manage and develop the team, supporting their potential and maintaining high performance
* Set and monitor KPIs and objectives at team and individual levels
* Conduct monthly 1:1s, mid-year, and year-end appraisals
* Manage attendance in line with HR policies
* Handle performance issues with support plans, quality checks, and coaching
* Collaborate with training and quality teams for continuous improvement
* Ensure policies and processes comply with regulations
* Become an SME in debt recovery policies and share knowledge
* Manage service levels and support departmental initiatives
* Plan resource allocation to manage workload
* Handle escalations and complex customer queries
* Manage relationships with debt collection agencies and third parties
* Be aware of budget and costs related to debt recovery
* Support audits and implement necessary actions
* Report on workload and manage resources accordingly
* Perform other duties as assigned
