Following continued growth and investment, our client is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Quality Engineer to join their Quality Operations team based in Minworth.
As a key member of the quality function, you will act as the Voice of the Customer, leading quality improvement activities, supporting customer escalations, driving robust corrective actions, and ensuring the highest standards of quality performance across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with automotive manufacturing experience and a background in plastics injection moulding to join a forward-thinking organisation committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary customer contact and Voice of the Customer.
Lead and support customer escalation activities.
Coordinate the method, timing, and evaluation of 8D and CCAR activities.
Produce weekly and monthly KPI reports, including PPM, incident rates, 8D status, and customer scorecards.
Drive corrective actions through to robust closure.
Provide support and guidance to Quality Technicians.
Support containment management activities and wider business objectives.
Assist in identifying training needs within the quality team.
Manage Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) initiatives.
Promote and share quality best practices across the business.
Deputise for the Senior Quality Engineer when required.
Ensure quality systems and processes remain robust and focused on preventing non-conforming product manufacture.
Support compliance with company policies, procedures, and Health & Safety requirements.
Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
Previous experience within an automotive manufacturing or supplier environment.
Experience within plastics injection moulding processes.
Strong knowledge of core quality tools including SPC, MSA, PFMEA, PPAP, and Control Plans.
Experience of 8D problem-solving methodologies and QRQC.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
High attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
Apprenticeship trained, ONC, HNC, or equivalent qualification.
Desirable Experience / Skills
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Diploma or Degree in Quality Management.
Green Belt or Black Belt Six Sigma qualification.
IATF 16949 Audit Training.
Metrology experience and use of measurement equipment.
Paint process experience.
Three or more years' experience within moulding processes.
