What you will do
1. Provide specialist electrical engineering advice and recommendations to the Process and Maintenance Departments, for example: on day to day matters; ensuring electrical supply meets demand; equipment failures; investigations; equipment strategies; and reliability improvements.
2. Provide professional electrical engineering support for projects, including: the preparation of screening studies, design bases and specifications for specialist projects.
3. Provide professional electrical engineering support and recommendations to management on electrical safety, infrastructure and technology issues.
About you
To be eligible for this role, you must:
4. Hold an engineering degree in electrical engineering, or an equivalent subject.
5. Be, or be working towards being, a Chartered Engineer, as defined by the Engineering Council or equivalent.
6. Have relevant electrical engineering experience in an operational environment at a COMAH facility, preferably refining or petrochemical.
7. Be familiar with relevant legislative requirements, particularly the Electricity at Work Regulations, 1989 and DSEAR regulations.
Candidates should also have demonstrated experience of:
8. Trouble shooting and fault-finding electrical equipment
9. Working with high voltage switchgear
10. Working with UPS’s (Uninterruptable Power Supply)
11. Working with protection systems
12. Supporting major maintenance activities, plant shutdowns
Candidates who do not hold a degree in electrical or electronic engineering will also be considered where they:
13. Have a relevant electrical maintenance or engineering qualification at Higher National Diploma level or above
14. Can demonstrate on-going professional development / learning over multiple years
15. Have a high degree of relevant experience in electrical engineering and / or maintenance on a COMAH facility, meeting the experience requirements set out above
