The Contracting Team at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Band 8a Senior Contracting Manager position based in Stafford.
In this senior role, you will oversee and ensure the quality and performance of a portfolio of contracts aligned to each care group. You will build and maintain strong working relationships with senior colleagues across the Trust, including those in Operational, Finance, and Information teams.
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clinical contracts, leading annual contract negotiations, and overseeing contract documentation. This includes translating Trust priorities into formal agreements that meet both national and local requirements, including financial and quality standards.
You will also ensure that all contracting processes and documentation are aligned with NHS Planning Guidance. In addition, you will take the lead in monthly contract monitoring and management, supporting the delivery of the Trust’s business and strategic objectives.
Main duties of the job
Contract Negotiation
* Annual contract negotiation and documentation for a portfolio of clinical contracts
* Support and translate Trust priorities into signed contracts that meet national and local requirements, including financial and quality parameters.
* Ensure alignment of annual contracting processes and contractual documentation to NHS Planning Guidance
Contract Management
* Effectively interpreting and presenting complex and sensitive information regarding commercial activities undertaken by the Trust, utilising highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills to gain acceptance and/or overcome resistance.
* Responsible for the management and maintenance of the Contracting database, ensuring accurate and timely information is available at all times in line with business need for the post holder’s portfolio of contracts.
* Monthly contract monitoring and management - lead the management of the contract portfolio for the Trust to support the Trust’s business and strategic objectives by monitoring performance against contractual targets and validating price and activity (claims management) and the wider performance metrics.
* Managing contract compliance by ensuring early diagnosis of issues and timely, effective intervention to ensure that contractual plans and targets are delivered and risk assessments undertaken.
* Lead the effective management of contract quality and performance
* To secure the planned delivery of national and local performance targets and quality indicators and to support the developmental agenda.
* Maintenance & update of the contract database for audit and governance purposes, advise when contracts are due for renewal and ascertain if a contract is to be extended, renegotiated or terminated
* Maintenance & update of the Contract Risk Register and flag risks to the appropriate personnel
