A local authority located in Herefordshire is looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapy Lead on an interim basis to provide cover for the Independent Living Service (ILS).
This role will oversee the Community Occupational Therapy (locality) functions, including Blue Badge services, while also playing a key role in service improvement and implementing recommendations from a recent service review. The successful candidate will support the Council’s wider aims by delivering high-quality services, driving improvement projects, and working collaboratively across departments to benefit the local community.
Main Duties:
1. Provide interim leadership and operational oversight of the Independent Living Service (ILS)
2. Manage and oversee Community Occupational Therapy locality functions, including Blue Badge services
3. Lead on service improvement activity and implement recommendations from the recent service review
4. Support the delivery of high-quality, timely, and proportionate Occupational Therapy services
5. Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies, and key stakeholders
6. Contribute to strategic projects that improve outcomes for residents
7. Ensure services are delivered in line with local authority policies, procedures, and values
8. Maintain high standards of performance, governance, and accountability
Requirements:
9. Significant post-qualified Occupational Therapy experience
10. Previous experience in a senior, lead, or management OT role
11. Strong understanding of community-based Occupational Therapy services
12. Experience overseeing or working within Independent Living or locality-based services
13. Ability to lead service improvement and change initiatives
14. HCPC Registration
15. Enhanced DBS/CRB (assistance available)
16. Eligibility to work in the UK
17. Ability to work independently and take initiative within a local authority setting
