Key responsibilities
1. Support students with special educational needs in their academic and social development
2. Work closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning strategies
3. Assist in implementing Individualised Education Plans and adapting learning materials
4. Promote positive relationships with students, encouraging engagement and confidence
5. Promote inclusive practices in the classroom and school community
6. Monitor and report on student progress and well-being
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
1. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in SEN settings
2. Strong understanding of special educational needs and inclusive education
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
4. Ability to adapt and be flexible in dynamic classroom environments
5. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
Desirable:
1. Specialised training in SEN support techniques e.g., Autism Awareness, Makaton or similar
2. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to making a difference in students' lives
3. A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is essential; therefore, all successful candidates will be required to undergo reference and DBS checks.
