Eaton Square Prep School is seeking an inspiring, energetic, and forward-thinking Teacher of PE & Games to help drive an exceptional sports programme at the heart of Central London. This is a standout opportunity for an Early Career Teacher (M1/M2) who wishes to accelerate their development within a high-performance, well-resourced independent school. This role involves teaching and coaching across a broad sporting curriculum, with particular emphasis on swimming, football, hockey and netball, as well as providing cover across the school in line with the daily cover timetable.
You will work closely with the Director of Sport and a team of 4–6 specialist coaches, supporting fixtures, competitions, and co-curricular sports enrichment. Key Responsibilities - Teach and coach pupils across a range of sports, with a particular focus on swimming, football, and netball. - Deliver high-quality PE lessons from Nursery to Year Six, ensuring clear progression and differentiation.
- Provide cover across the school according to daily requirements. - Support the planning and supervision of inter-school fixtures, tournaments, festivals, and residential/overseas sports tours. - Promote a culture of participation, performance, sportsmanship, and enjoyment.
- Assist in maintaining equipment, facilities, and the effective use of off-site sports provision (including Battersea Park and swimming venues). - Contribute to assessment, reporting, and communication with parents. - Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, pupil welfare, and health & safety.
- Qualifications & Experience Required Essential: - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK. - Suitable for teachers on the M1–M2 scale (including Early Career Teachers). - Degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related subject.
- Level 2 coaching qualification (minimum) in at least one major sport (e.g. FA Level 2 in Football, England Netball Level 2, or equivalent). - Swim England Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent (desirable but advantageous). - Paediatric First Aid or Emergency First Aid at Work certification (or willingness to obtain). - Knowledge of the National Curriculum for PE and independent prep school sport structures.
- Enhanced DBS clearance and commitment to safeguarding best practice. Desirable: - Experience teaching and coaching in an independent or prep school setting. - Experience leading teams in competitive fixtures and tournaments.
- Multi-sport coaching background. - Experience organising sports events, festivals, or tours. Person Specification - Passionate about sport and youth development.
