Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of B5 Occupational Therapist in the Occupational Therapy Hub with the Middlesbrough Community Hub team. The service is based at Parkside Mental Health Resource Centre in Middlesbrough. The service is open between 9am and 5pm Monday - Friday.

The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality patient focused care in a community setting.

The role will involve improving the lives of people with severe and enduring mental health conditions as well as introducing they to our local community transformation partners to continue their journey to recovery.

As an occupational therapist in TEWV you will be professionally and clinically accountable for own caseload, assessing occupational performance and delivering occupational interventions, demonstrating adherence to the Trust values at all times and operating as a member of the team, service and organisation.

Main duties of the job

Occupationally focused assessments and interventions will be delivered as part of a dynamic service delivery model that has a strong commitment to collaborative working at its core whilst recognising the unique skills of all professional groups represented in the onal focus is on delivering high quality evidence based services that support recovery, occupational formulation and occupational engagement. The delivery occupational therapy 1:1 and in groups is be responsible for receiving requests for occupational therapy, triaging and prioritising these, completing evidence-based assessments and interventions to address key occupational areas of self care, productivity and use client-centred approaches to co-producing negotiated occupational goals and evaluate these with service users participate in clinical/professional and management supervisionTo contribute to multi-disciplinary team workingTo contribute to service improvement and quality initiativesTo use the Trust electronic patient record systemTo abide by all Trust policies and proceduresTo be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges

The post will offer varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through appraisal. Well defined supervision systems are in place.

Qualifications

Essential

1. Appropriate professional qualification in occupational therapy role (or pending)
2. Current relevant registration with HCPC (or pending)
3. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 7 for international recruits

Desirable

4. Post graduate training in relevant specialist area

Experience

Essential

5. Experience of working in a variety of practice areas whilst on student placements (or postgraduate)

Desirable

6. Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
7. Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team

Knowledge

Essential

8. Awareness of professional standards and their application to practice
9. Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities

Desirable

10. Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
11. Knowledge of the evidence base for the clinical practice area
