Overview
A local authority in the South West is seeking an experienced Repairs Manager to join their property services team on an interim basis. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for a driven and capable professional with a strong track record in delivering large-scale repair and maintenance operations within housing or property settings.
Responsibilities
* Take charge of the responsive repairs function, overseeing a blended workforce of in-house operatives (approx. 70%) and third-party contractors to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes.
* Deliver and manage complex repair works across a wide-ranging housing stock, ensuring full adherence to health and safety, legal compliance, and quality assurance standards.
* Administer and monitor a repairs budget in the region of £12 million, ensuring optimal use of staffing, materials, and other resources.
* Lead procurement activity and oversee contract management processes, ensuring that external providers meet service expectations.
* Bring technical knowledge in areas such as building maintenance, property compliance, and housing-related regulations.
* Provide clear direction and leadership to managers, supervisors, and operational teams, with regular on-site engagement to support performance improvement and service delivery.
Qualifications
* Experience managing multi-million-pound budgets (approx. £10m+) within a housing or property maintenance context.
* A proven ability to lead and develop responsive repair services, including internal teams and contracted suppliers.
* Strong contract management skills with a background in service commissioning and performance monitoring.
* Confidence working in a dynamic environment, demonstrating decisive leadership and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
