About The Mayfield Trust

The Mayfield Trust is a long-established charity based in Calderdale, dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities to live life to the fullest. Since 1952, we have pioneered inclusive, person-led services in our community – from supported living, LD nursing care and outreach, to community based day opportunities and a thriving activity centre.

We are proud to be the first charity in Calderdale to offer this kind of support, and our approach remains rooted in promoting choice, independence, and meaningful experiences. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care: our staff receive in-house training and use responsive, individualised methods tailored to each person’s needs and aspirations.

* Work with Kindness
* Support Experiences
* Care Creatively
* Embrace Change

* Keep accurate records of wellbeing, progress, and incidents using agreed systems.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure consistent and holistic support.

* Strong communication skills – able to listen actively, speak clearly, and write clear, accurate records.
* A person‑led approach, with patience, empathy, and attention to detail.
* Ability to build trusting relationships with the people you support, colleagues, and external partners.
* Organised, motivated, and confident working independently or as part of a team.
* Flexibility to work 12‑hour shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
* Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and trauma‑informed de‑escalation techniques.

* Experience working in inclusive, values‑led environments.
