About the Role
Base Salary: £26,403 - £26,824 per annum plus weekend working and overtime enhanced pay, excellent pension and annual leave entitlement.
Working Pattern: Full time – 37 hours per week.
Contract: Permanent.
Location: Worthing.
Shift Pattern: 9:30pm – 07:30am, working alternate weekends with a rolling rota pattern.
As a Night Childcare Worker you will ensure all children’s and young people’s physical and emotional night care needs are met.
This may include managing challenging behaviour, providing emotional support, supporting children with curfew, and ensuring safe return from the community. You will also support children to maintain and improve their skills and daily lives in line with individual care plans, and be responsible for report writing, nightly checks and household chores when required.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the physical and emotional night care needs of children and young people are met.
* Manage challenging behaviour during night shifts.
* Provide emotional support to children and young people.
* Support children with curfew and ensure they return safely from the community.
* Maintain and improve children’s skills and daily lives in line with individual care plans.
* Write reports, conduct nightly checks and complete household chores as required.
Experience and Skills
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, to be achieved within two years of appointment.
* Sound communication and interpersonal skills with children and families.
* Ability to promote and encourage a multi‑agency approach to support the child.
* Ability to use initiative to resolve problems within given parameters.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work.
* Ability to work as part of a team around a child.
* Good standard of literacy: ability to write reports around individuals and significant incidents.
* Knowledge of how to support children who have experienced trauma, harm or abuse – desirable.
