Human Resources Business Partner at Graze
Role summary
Part of the Engineering team and reporting to the Engineering Manager, this key role exists to take ownership of driving improvement activity in a specific line or area of the factory, delivering solutions through high-level structured problem solving across all aspects of machinery performance. You’ll likely be passionate about caring for machinery and automation, and you’ll have mechanical, electrical and basic controls experience along with an ability to understand complex systems and processes.
You’ll take the initiative in identifying performance losses through use of both data and by ‘go and see’ to deeply understand the system and processes, not only the automation but how people and processes interact with it. A significant portion of time will be spent on the shop floor working in close partnership with operational Team leaders and Area managers, as well as the Engineering functions; Maintenance and Projects, to deliver transformational change.
What you’ll be responsible for
* Take ownership for proactive problem solving in focus areas of the factory, driving efficiency improvements through leading structured problem-solving involving multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
* Supporting reactive problem-solving escalations that require a higher level of technical skill and knowledge.
* Support the Reliability team to Create, develop and communicate the standard settings and standard approaches to trouble-shooting common issues.
* Managing improvement projects from initial problem statements through to sustained and proven actions.
* Always working to the highest safety standards. Identifying hazards and making improvements to equipment safety.
* Delivering change projects that improve performance capability and delivering on time, to a high quality and with good consideration to value for any investment recommendations.
* Improving the efficiency and performance of existing designs, machinery, equipment, systems, and products.
* Cross functional working with other Graze functions as well as your own engineering team to develop & implement opportunities that improve Safety, Quality, OEE and costs.
* Providing engineering advice and support to key stakeholders.
Your day-to-day tasks...
* Working on improvement projects using A3 methodology through the stages of building the problem statement, understanding the root causes, propose and implement solutions, and follow up actions.
* Hands on mechanical, electrical and process problem-solving on automation and process machinery.
* Using IT and software such as excel to Analyse key metrics from the wealth of captured production data to understand trends and translating them into improvement opportunities (problem statements).
* Communicating and aligning with other teams and stakeholders on the progress of projects.
* Issuing Permit to Work for suppliers and contractors visiting site.
* Supporting other Engineering functions with technical expertise, training, mentoring.
* Testing/iterating improvements to machinery equipment set up to achieve fast paced solutions.
* Creating documentation to support your change projects, such as setup documentation, trouble-shooting guides, etc.

* Provide cover and support for the Reliability & Maintenance manager during absence
* Involvement in large capital projects lead by Project Managers
* Mentor and develop other team members
what we’re looking for in you
* Have formal Engineering qualifications, either having completed a recognised apprenticeship to HNC level or Degree with practical experience.
* Multi-skilled problem-solving ability on automation using mechanical, electrical and controls knowledge.
* A strong understanding of the requirements of Health & Safety within manufacturing.
* Proven experience within an engineering department in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Inquisitive nature with a huge interest in how things work and ability understand complex processes.
* Able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
* Able to communicate effectively with the engineering, operations, and quality teams.
* Ability to use IT effectively, Microsoft Excel, Word etc.
* Excited about taking on new challenges.
* Experience working to tight timelines.
* Be a fast learning, self-starter with great attention to detail.
