Description
Are you an experienced professional in construction management or civil engineering with a passion for developing the next generation of industry leaders? We are seeking two Apprentice Trainers for Higher Construction to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of the construction industry.
This role involves no classroom teaching but requires addressing groups of students with a structured approach to providing clear and accurate instructions.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
* Assess apprentices in Higher Construction (Level 4 and above) according to College standards and external validating bodies, preparing assessment materials, schemes of work, and assessment plans. Support curriculum development and undertake quality assurance activities. Assess students' written and practical work, monitor progress, and report on their development, including maintaining students’ Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). Record and communicate assessment results and grades, ensuring statutory compliance such as safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
* Coordinate with relevant departments (e.g., Exams, MIS, ALS) to ensure organizational and administrative compliance across sites.
* Visit students at their workplaces, set skill development targets with students and employers, monitor progress, and assess competency in line with awarding organization criteria.
* Assist in recruiting and enrolling suitable candidates, managing enrolment procedures, and organizing induction programs.
* Conduct initial consultations with employers, perform skills scans, and ensure apprentices are matched to appropriate learning programs.
* Hold regular meetings with students, set and review SMART targets, assist with UCAS references, support pastoral needs, and liaise with college services. The frequency of meetings will be determined by the Head of Department.
* Monitor attendance and results, including managing registers, exam entries, and course performance, and develop action plans as needed.
* Promote English and Maths provision, supporting attendance and progress in these areas.
* Participate in meetings, employer engagements, marketing events, and CPD activities, and contribute to course and staff development, including mentoring colleagues.
* Support departmental administration, such as updating records, producing reports, and participating in quality assurance activities like verification and moderation.
