Trainee Teaching Assistant ABC Teachers is seeking a Trainee Teaching Assistant to work full time within specialist SEN schools. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to transition into education from backgrounds such as healthcare, mental health, social care, outreach, or support work. About the Role Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in delivering adapted lessons to meet a variety of SEN needs 1:1 & Small Group Support: Working closely with students with ASC, PMLD, and SEMH needs to support engagement and progress Behaviour & Emotional Support: Promoting positive behaviour, supporting emotional regulation, and helping students feel safe and understood Personal Care (where required): Supporting students with additional physical needs in a dignified and respectful manner Professional Development: Gaining valuable school-based experience with access to ongoing training and development About the Schools Specialist SEN settings supporting students with a wide range of complex needs Inclusive, nurturing environments focused on individual progress Strong emphasis on teamwork, structure, and positive behaviour support Committed to helping every student reach their potential About You To be considered for the Trainee Teaching Assistant role, you must: Be available to work 5 days per week (8:30am – 4:00pm) Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above Have experience in roles such as: Healthcare Assistant Support Worker Mental Health Worker Outreach Worker Social Care Worker Be patient, resilient, and confident supporting individuals with additional needs Have a genuine interest in working within SEN education Be able to obtain suitable references and undergo an Enhanced DBS check Previous school experience is not essential — full support and training will be provided to help you transition into education successfully.
