Overview
Pastoral and Re-integration Mentor — Grade 8 £32,597- £36,363 pro rata. Full Time, Term Time only plus 3 weeks. Permanent – required as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
* Be part of the team responsible for monitoring the welfare of young people at The Woodlands attending Alternative Provision.
* Work closely with identified children/young people and Alternative Providers to address individual issues by identifying and disseminating appropriate strategies with involvement from other agencies as appropriate, and work with parents and carers.
* Identify individual needs of children and young people in terms of personal and social development and establish outcome-based plans reviewed with The Woodlands, Parents/Carers and Alternative Placements.
* Oversee students on placement and work within an identified cluster of Alternative Providers within County Durham; hold a full UK driving licence and access to a car (business insurance required and business mileage can be claimed).
* Draw up tailored integration plans for individuals transitioning into longer-term educational placements; actively participate in delivery and evaluation where appropriate or assist in transitions to different Alternative Providers.
* Support the transition of young people into post-16 placements to minimise disruption.
* Communicate effectively in English when interacting with customers and providing advice.
* Engage in discussions about the post and related duties with relevant contacts.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car (business insurance and mileage claimable).
* Experience or ability to identify needs and develop plans for personal and social development.
* Ability to collaborate with Parents/Carers, Alternative Providers and other agencies as appropriate.
* The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
