Job Overview:
The Terex Materials Processing Division’s Crushing Technology Team are at the forefront of designing the next generation of crushers for the Powerscreen, Finlay and MPS ranges of mobile, wheeled, static and semi static crushers, as well as identifying opportunities to develop and improve existing products.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Working with the relevant lead engineer, the Design Engineer will be responsible for the development of new and maintenance of existing crushing chambers, within defined timescales.
2. Provide engineered solutions for the development of new products and modifications to existing products.
3. Produce full manufacturing specification package including Engineering BOMs.
4. To resolve problems at the root cause quickly and effectively and manage engineering change process relating to crushing chambers.
5. Follow Group standards of in the areas of QFD, FMEA, design-for-manufacture, prototype development and field testing.
6. Follow Group engineering standards and associated IT systems, to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
7. Ensure current and new products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function and reliability.
8. Reduce manufacturing cost through improved design and consultation with the production department, purchasing and suppliers.
9. Investigate and address Customer Complaints in a timely manner.
10. Drive standardisation of components and sub-assemblies within crushing products.
11. Stay knowledgeable of machine component advancements and competitor design trends; apply latest technology to new and existing designs where appropriate to stay current and innovation.
The successful candidate should have:
12. Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
13. Good presentation and interpersonal skills
14. Creative and innovative thinking
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
15. 3D modelling experience
16. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
17. Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
18. Problem solving tool knowledge (8D preferred)
19. Able to assess workload and commit to realistic timelines
20. Able to select from multiple design alternatives when a clear best choice is not evident.
21. Able to investigate root cause of machinery non-performance.
22. Can identify risks both technical and commercial with proposed product change or new product
