The Regional Produce Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing fresh produce supply for the region, ensuring high-quality products at competitive prices, maintaining supplier relationships, and staying informed about market trends. This role is crucial in driving the freshness and quality of our produce, ensuring customer satisfaction and supporting regional profitability.
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Management, or a related field
* Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a retail buying/procurement role, preferably in FMCG or grocery retail
* Proven success on financial KPIs
* Extensive commercial knowledge
* In-depth knowledge of store operations, category management, and in-store execution
* SAP knowledge is an advantage
Competencies
* Knowledge of buying fundamentals and product costings
* Ability to build recipes considering various costs
* Analytical skills to interpret complex information and recommend improvements
* Understanding of all commercial levers in food retail
* Commercial and financial acumen

Key Responsibilities
1. Market Visits: Regular visits to local markets to understand customer needs and identify opportunities.
2. Regional Supplier Visits: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring product availability and optimal pricing.
3. Competition Trade Visits: Monitor competitors’ offerings and pricing to stay ahead in the market.
4. Bulk Buy Negotiations: Negotiate deals to achieve cost savings and maximize profitability.
5. Market Days: Plan and execute regional market days to boost brand presence and sales.
6. Regional Store Adverts: Coordinate targeted advertising with regional stores.
7. Weekly Advertisements: Oversee development to align with marketing strategies and engage customers.
8. Evaluate merchandising plans and collaborate with store teams to implement category strategies.
9. Interact confidently with suppliers, reinforcing company values and strategies.
