We're looking for an Azure Data Platform Engineer to join a collaborative and growing technology team. This is an opportunity to work with modern cloud-based data platforms, supporting business-critical systems while contributing to the ongoing development and optimisation of data infrastructure.
You’ll work closely with software engineers, infrastructure specialists, and stakeholders across the business, playing a key role in ensuring data platforms remain secure, reliable, scalable, and high performing. The role offers a blend of database administration, data engineering, performance optimisation, and problem‑solving in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and optimise cloud‑hosted databases, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
* Support reporting, analytics, and data‑driven decision making through SQL development and data investigation.
* Maintain and improve database infrastructure, backup and recovery processes, and system monitoring.
* Identify performance bottlenecks and implement improvements to enhance scalability and efficiency.
* Develop and support data integration solutions and data movement processes across multiple systems.
* Collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders to provide expertise, resolve issues, and drive best practices in data management and governance.
Essential Criteria
Technical Skills
* Strong experience working with relational databases in cloud environments.
* Advanced SQL skills, including query development and performance optimisation.
* Experience managing and supporting complex database environments.
* Understanding of database design, indexing, execution plans, locking, and concurrency.
* Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting production systems.
* Knowledge of data integration, ETL/ELT processes, or data pipelines.
* Experience supporting applications that interact with databases through ORM frameworks.
Professional Skills
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
* Comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
* A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

* Experience with analytics, reporting, or data warehousing platforms.
