Mace is tendering for the opportunity to be the technical support partner for a defence client for an extensive recapitalisation programme of defence real estate and infrastructure on the south coast of England. The project involves developing and maturing plans into a coherent programme, addressing challenges of an aging estate and contributing towards net zero carbon aspirations. This role will be responsible for implementing and delivering a comprehensive range of risk services, requiring UK national security clearance (SC).
You'll be responsible for:
* Creating and designing effective risk management frameworks and strategies.
* Managing and directing the client, consultants, contractors, and project team on risk management matters.
* Advising and building strong professional relationships with client organisations.
* Acting as the programme’s risk management SME.
* Leading and delivering quantitative risk analysis (cost and time).
* Advising on contingency adequacy as part of regular reporting.
* Ensuring activities comply with Mace control centre, client requirements, and legislation.
* Providing line management to junior risk managers and project staff.
* Mentoring and supporting the development of junior risk team members.
* Innovating and aligning with industry best practices for service excellence.
* Leading a high-performing risk team.
* Supporting resourcing and recruitment efforts.
* Contributing to net zero carbon transition by proactively managing associated emissions and reductions.
You’ll need to have:
* Experience leading risk management on significant construction projects.
* Experience establishing risk management frameworks.
* Knowledge of risk tools and software (e.g., active risk manager, riskHive, @risk, Primavera Risk Analyzer).
* Ability to manage activities with high uncertainty.
* Proficiency in planning tools (e.g., P6, Astra, MS Project).
* Knowledge of Power BI and reporting tools.
* Strong understanding of construction project lifecycle and interfaces.
* Domain knowledge in defence risk leadership, especially nuclear awareness.
* Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and influencing skills.
* Ability to communicate complex information effectively to non-technical audiences.
* Proven leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
* Leadership by example, championing Mace behaviors.
* Ability to set a vision for risk management.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience building and leading high-performing teams.

Additional qualifications:
