Rate: Up to £375 per day via Umbrella or LTD
Contract Length: Minimum 6 months
Start Date: ASAP
Location: On-site, Northamptonshire
Security Requirement (Essential)

About the Role
A leading UK engineering organisation is seeking a Contract NPI Production Engineer to support the introduction of complex, defence-grade electronic and electro-mechanical systems into manufacture for a major MOD programme.
This is an immediate requirement supporting a critical deliverable moving into production. You will be expected to operate with minimal supervision whilst driving manufacturing readiness and supporting early builds as products transition from design into production.
This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role suited to an engineer comfortable working close to the product and the production environment rather than operating purely at the programme or strategic level.
Prior defence experience is desirable; however, recent experience supporting the introduction of electronic or electro-mechanical products into production is essential. The interview process will be one to two stages, with a quick turnaround for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead manufacturing activities linked to New Product Introduction.
* Work closely with design teams to ensure products transition smoothly into production.
* Develop practical manufacturing solutions to support assembly and test.
* Produce clear production documentation to enable consistent and repeatable builds.
* Identify manufacturing risks early and implement improvements to enhance manufacturability.
* Provide hands-on engineering support during prototype and early production phases.
* Troubleshoot build issues and drive timely resolution.
* Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to resolve technical manufacturing challenges.
Essential Experience
* Proven experience supporting New Product Introduction within complex electronic or electro-mechanical engineering environments.
* Recent involvement in introducing products into production and supporting early build activity.
* Comfortable operating at the build level within a production environment; this is not a strategic or programme-based position.
* Strong understanding of how engineering design translates into practical manufacturing methods.
* Ability to work independently and resolve manufacturing challenges in a fast-paced setting.
* British citizens or those eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC) only; this is a mandatory requirement
