Role Overview
The Laboratory Technician works within the Operations team, providing professional laboratory checks and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day running of the laboratory.
Responsibilities
* Clean and replenish all glassware.
* Organise and replenish consumables, solvents, and personal protective equipment.
* Store chemical substances safely, update stock lists, and replenish as needed.
* Dispose of waste properly and designate waste types.
* Conduct equipment calibration and planned preventive maintenance (PPM).
* Perform daily checks and verifications of critical equipment (balances, humidity chambers, fridges/freezers).
* Complete laboratory logbooks accurately.
* Book samples, chemicals, columns, and reference standards.
* Handle chemicals and solutions with correct storage and safety procedures.
* Assist the Laboratory Supervisor with equipment replacement/upgrades when required.
* Practice safe work habits, complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules.
* Maintain housekeeping standards after scientific work.
* Communicate issues, problems, or improvement suggestions to senior team members promptly.
Basic Company Practices
* Promote Nanopharm & Aptar’s best interests through positive and effective duties modeling core values.
* Comply with Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability policies.
* Adhere to Quality policies and procedures.
* Understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within specified timeframes.
* Maintain up‑to‑date training records.
* Complete timesheets, expense claims, objectives, and appraisals timely.
* Protect confidential information.
* Use IT equipment in line with Aptar policies.
Education & Qualification
* Preferably a first degree in science, pharmacy or relevant discipline (grade 2.1 or above). Not essential.
Experience
* Previous work or academic experience in a laboratory environment.
Skills
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as COSHH, GLP.
* Detail‑oriented and highly organised.
* Confident working in a team, using initiative.
* Flexibility to adapt to evolving workload and remain calm under pressure.
