Trainee Ships Agent Aberdeen (with flexibility to travel to other UK ports such as Peterhead and Montrose) Full-time | On-site with travel About the Role We’re looking for a proactive and professional Trainee Ships Agent to join our clients growing team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for coordinating day-to-day ships agency operations across Aberdeen and surrounding ports. You’ll act as the key point of contact between vessel operators, port authorities, suppliers, and internal teams—ensuring smooth port calls, top-notch service, and a high standard of operational delivery. What You’ll Do Build and maintain knowledge and awareness of the service offerings. Monitor vessel movements and manage all port-related logistics. Source and procure supplies and services required for vessels at berth. Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring responsive and professional service. Collaborate with internal teams to support cross-functional service delivery. Maintain accurate records using digital systems and ensure documentation is fully compliant. Safely transport ship personnel, equipment, and belongings as needed using company vehicles. Contribute to continuous improvement, safety, and quality across all activities. Action Operational requests from Vessels / Vessel Owners / Vessel Charterer. Monitor and keep up to date with Vessel Movements. What You’ll Need A solid general education and a full clean UK driving licence. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset. Confidence working in fast-paced environments and handling multiple priorities. Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. Ability to work independently while being a reliable team player. IT literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office (experience with AX is a plus). A proactive approach to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. It’s a Bonus If You Have Experience in ships agency, marine logistics, or supply chain. Membership with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Dangerous Goods by Sea, COSHH, or HSE awareness training. A forklift (0.5T Counterbalance) certification.
