Job Description

IBI is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Editor to lead its editorial strategy and content output across all platforms. This is a high-profile, ambassadorial role responsible for maintaining the brand’s market-leading position while driving editorial innovation.

The Editor will oversee a small in-house editorial team – including a Digital Editor and Deputy Editor – and manage a broad network of international contributors. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable shaping long-term editorial vision, producing high-quality content, and representing the brand on the global stage.

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Leadership & Strategy

1. Define and execute IBI’s editorial strategy across print, digital, and event platforms.
2. Ensure the highest journalistic standards and uphold IBI’s reputation for authoritative, insightful content.
3. Oversee the planning, commissioning, editing, and production of all editorial outputs.
4. Identify opportunities to evolve IBI’s digital presence, including new formats and audience engagement strategies.
5. IBI Plus content strategy to ensure enhanced paid for editorial content offerings

Team & Contributor Management

6. Lead, mentor, and manage a small editorial team, including the Digital Editor and Deputy Editor.
7. Coordinate and maintain a strong network of international contributors, freelancers, and subject-matter experts.
8. Support the team in delivering timely, accurate, and globally relevant content.

Industry Engagement & Brand Ambassadorship

9. Represent IBI at major boat shows and key industry events around the world.
10. Build and nurture relationships with senior industry leaders, including CEOs, managing directors, and decision-makers.
11. Serve as a visible spokesperson for the brand, maintaining IBI’s trusted status within the marine industry.
12. Speak confidently and professionally on stage at IBI events and partner events.

Events and Conferences

13. Working closely with key stakeholders to lead the editorial input and content delivery across IBI’s portfolio of conferences and awards.

Qualifications

14. First hand media experience of leisure marine sector essential. Minimum 5 years’ experience required.
15. Proven experience in an editorial leadership role, specifically within B2B or specialist media.
16. Strong understanding of multi-platform content strategies (print, digital, video, events).
17. Exceptional editing, writing, and commissioning skills.
18. Confident public speaker, comfortable hosting events and moderating panels.
19. Experience managing journalists and working with international contributors.
20. Ability to build strong relationships with senior executives and industry stakeholders.
21. Willingness to travel internationally throughout the year.

Summary of employee benefits

27. Annual leave - Full-time benefit is 33 days per year (25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays). The Company also offers up to an additional 3 days of paid time off during the Christmas office closure period. This applies to all staff employed during the closure period regardless of their start date or if notice has been given. These days do not form part of the annual leave entitlement.
28. You will also receive your birthday off or the following day each year, provided it falls on a weekday.
29. Long Service Award
30. The holiday year after your 5th anniversary, you will be awarded one additional day of annual leave.
31. Pension You will be auto-enrolled into the pension scheme provided you meet the criteria. Standard contributions are set at 4% but the Company matches employee contributions up to 5%.
32. Death in Service Whilst an employee, cover for all staff (permanent and temporary) of two times annual salary.
33. Maternity pays 12 weeks at 100% of basic pay followed by 27 weeks at Statutory Maternity Pay rate, provided at least one year service.
34. Paternity pays 1 week at full pay, followed by a second week at Statutory Paternity Pay rate.
35. Enhanced sick pay After probation, the company will pay up to two weeks full pay per year, increasing to five weeks based on the length of service.
36. Cycle to Work -The Company operates a Cycle to Work scheme to enable you to enjoy tax free cycling.
37. Refer a friend scheme We operate a refer a friend scheme where you are paid a £500 employee referral payment for successfully referring a friend or contact for employment with us. Payment is made upon successful completion of their probation.
38. Love Wimbledon -Lots of discounts for shops, restaurants etc with a Love Wimbledon card.
39. Summer Hours (Discretionary) Early finish at 3pm every Friday during July and August.
40. Nuffield Health Gym Membership -Nuffield Health Gym across the road offers discounted membership rates for employees.
41. Healthcare Cash Plan -The Company offers a health cash plan which helps with the costs of dental, physio, optical and other medical expenses. Please note that this is a taxable benefit.
42. Season Ticket Loans -Employees can request an interest-free loan to purchase a Season Ticket to be repaid over 12 months.
43. Whirlpool Appliance Discount Scheme -Employees benefit from our Whirlpool VIP discount scheme, under which you can enjoy savings of at least 20% on Whirlpool products, which includes Hotpoint and Indesit brands, plus free delivery. Products range from washing machines, refrigeration, cookers and dishwashers to Hotpoint’s Small Domestic Appliance range.
