US$10 - US$30 an hour
Posted: 25 February
Offer description

We are looking for a dedicated wedding film editor to work with us on a long-term basis.

We are specifically seeking someone experienced in editing wedding films for studios or external clients who understands storytelling, pacing, dialogue, and emotional structure.

We film approximately 15–25 weddings per year and want to build an ongoing working relationship with the right editor.

Software Requirements

• Must use DaVinci Resolve Studio (paid version)

• Comfortable working with log footage and conversion LUT workflows

• Strong understanding of exposure balancing and natural skin tones

Editing Scope

You will be editing the following film types:

• Ceremony & reception speeches edit only (multi-camera ceremony and speeches, clean audio, simple colour balancing)

• Highlight film (6–8 minutes)

• Highlight film (6–8 minutes) + ceremony + reception speeches

• Highlight + feature film (feature film up to 15 minutes) + ceremony + speeches

Our films are story-driven and dialogue-based. Strong integration of vows and speeches into a cohesive narrative is essential. We prioritise emotional pacing and clean dialogue.

Experience Required

You must have:

• Previous wedding editing experience for studios or external clients (not only your own business)

• Ability to match an existing style and maintain consistency

• Strong audio syncing and dialogue editing skills

• Proficient English comprehension (our films rely heavily on spoken vows and speeches)

Please specify your exact role in each film you submit.

Colour Management & System Compatibility (Important)

We review and finalise all films on a Mac Studio with an Apple display.

In the past we have experienced colour inconsistencies when projects were edited on different systems and monitors. Because of this, our editor must understand colour management and how footage can appear differently across devices.

You must be able to calibrate and compensate so the delivered film matches what we see on our end.
Understanding Rec.709 workflows, gamma differences between systems, and proxy behaviour is important.

Workflow & Communication

Reliability and communication are very important to us.

You must:

• Reply to messages within 48 hours on weekdays

• Be comfortable using or Dropbox for review

• Be open to feedback and revisions

• Maintain organised project files and timelines

• Provide clear delivery expectations

Please briefly describe your workflow from receiving footage through to delivery of the first draft.

Expected turnaround:
First draft approximately 3–4 weeks after receiving footage.

Agencies / Teams

We are open to working with an agency only if a dedicated editor (or consistent small team) is assigned to our films and consistency can be guaranteed.
We do not want a different editor working on each wedding.

Training & Feedback

We will provide guidance initially so you can learn our workflow and preferences.

However, we are looking for someone who can learn our style (and potentially improve it) and apply it consistently across future weddings.

We expect the first draft to be close to final quality. Minor revisions are normal, but repeated major corrections should not be necessary once our style is understood.

What To Send With Your Application

Please include:

• 2–4 wedding films you personally edited (not a company showreel)

• Your exact role in each film

• A short description of your editing workflow
