Bioprocessing bootcamp 2026

Bristol (City of Bristol)
Posted: 3h ago
Offer description

Extracellular are running their hugely impactful Bioprocessing Bootcamp again in 2026, this time in partnership with the University of Bristol for early-career individuals. We have up to 6 places available for a dedicated ‘boot camp’-style internship. This boot camp will be an intensive hands-on training course focused on bioprocessing, and will teach you the techniques required to culture cells, set up and run bioreactors, and analyse the data, as well as the key skills needed to work in a research lab and in industry. The Opportunity Successful applicants will complete a 4-week internship at Extracellular between 1st June – 26th June. You will be trained in aseptic technique, fundamentals of cell culture, bioreactor set-up and operation, data analysis and safe working practices in a life science lab. Expenses up to £2,100 will be covered to support accommodation and living expenses during the Bootcamp. Successful candidates will be eligible for a full-time role at Extracellular. The Candidate Profile You should have studied a STEM subject to bachelors or masters level. Alternatively, we’re open to applicants who have studied multiple STEM subjects at A-level/BTEC or equivalent and who do not hold a higher-level degree. This opportunity is open to research, technical and professional services staff, and graduates completing their studies in Summer 2026. You need to be available for the dates of the application process & internship, with potential to convert to a full-time role. We’re looking for people with great organisational skills and excellent attention to detail. You'll need to be a genuine team-player who asks for help when it's needed and offers help when it isn’t. You'll need to be comfortable with ambiguity and proactive in finding ways to move forward. You'll see failure as a learning opportunity. Note: We’re not able to support applicants abroad who require a visa, PhD graduates, or applicants through recruiters. About Extracellular Extracellular is a research and development organisation working in sustainable biotechnology. We work with animal and plant stem cells, and optimise their growth in bioprocesses similar to beer brewing. Many of the products we help to develop have applications in food, materials and personal care ingredients. We help to make cultured chocolate to help protect the rainforest, cultivated meat to reduce animal slaughter and emissions, and bio-based materials to reduce microplastics. The Application Process We plan to close this job posting to new entrants on the 15th May. The post may be closed early depending on the level of applications received. Phone interviews will be held between 18th–22nd May. In person assessments will be held on 26th or 28th May. The start date of the programme is 1st June.
