1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Bournemouth Start Date: September 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time (Fixed Term to July 2026) Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a new and fulfilling challenge this September? GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Bournemouth. This role involves providing focused support to a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is offering a trial day on the first day back in September 2025, with the aim of appointing the right person for the full academic year through to July 2026. Your Responsibilities as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA): Deliver consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH, building positive, trusting relationships Implement tailored strategies to help the pupil regulate emotions, focus and engage in lessons Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to ensure the pupil’s needs are met effectively Foster emotional resilience and provide a calm, structured environment conducive to learning Track and report progress to support continued development and adapt interventions accordingly 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements: Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH in a school environment CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or similar is desirable but not essential A degree in SEN, Psychology or a similar field. Calm, nurturing and empathetic nature with a proactive and resilient attitude Strong communication and behaviour management skills Commitment to inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and safeguarding practices Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
