CollaborativeAs a Print Designer at Mint Velvet, you will design and develop prints and graphics for use across the range that deliver the key trends and the MV relaxed glamour ethos.You will constantly source inspiration for the design direction of your area and the wider brand, developing these sources appropriately into designs for the perfect MV prints and graphics. With your impeccable eye and handwriting, you will drive newness and excitement in our print offering, ensuring that MV always anticipates and exceeds our customer’s expectations.Your responsibilities will include:Researching and Developing TrendsVisiting inspirational shops/markets/print fairs and other locations in the UK and abroad to research and progress ideas for print and product development, buying relevant samples and taking photos to illustrate findingsKeeping abreast of current and future trends for all areas by constantly reviewing appropriate sources in all media formats, recommending ideas, sharing relevant inspirational materials and responding to the relevant trends for your areaContributing to the overall design strategy by providing visuals and trend information to the team to help build the overall seasonal trend picture, including global lifestyle and product trends, ensuring we are always evaluating and responding to newness throughout the seasonAnalysing the catwalk shows and summarising the key trends in your area; identifying and designing the Mint Velvet versions of key printsDesign ResponsibilityDelivering the seasonal print trends; balancing fashionability and commerciality, whilst always aligning them with the brand handwritingDesigning a balanced range of prints, across colour, categories, style and technique. Ensuring that there is a mixture of graphic and painted printsWorking with the wider Design and Buying team to ensure choice and newness is offered in print as well as potentialising best sellers; identify and address missed opportunitiesRacking your print range up regularly in order to review your range independently, identifying gaps and making a plan to resolve theseCreating colour boards for print colouration to be used across prints, constantly reviewing these to ensure they stay relevantPreparing for design brainstorms, collating mood boards to illustrate new trends and print ideas for move-onsInterpreting trends and developing prints without infringing copyright, design rights or trademarksPresenting product to Management in print review, ensuring you present a compelling picture of the print vision, backing prints and graphics you feel strongly forSupporting preparation for range builds, pulling relevant samples, hangers and strike offs togetherSupporting the wider Design team by sharing responsibility for the organisation and upkeep of the studioHelping mentor junior members of the product team, providing ongoing guidance, feedback and supportWhat we're looking for:You have established print design experience at a similar level in a fashion retail business and strong technical print expertise across a range of techniquesYou are comfortable across all Microsoft Office systems and extensive knowledge of CAD, Photoshop, IllustratorYou have an authentic, creative passion and eye for product, print and emerging trends, and are skilled and proactive in seeking out inspirationYou have an affinity with our signature ‘relaxed glamour’ ethos, and an ability to effortlessly translate inspiration into MV-appropriate designsYou are able to articulate yourself clearly and confidently at all levels - communicating your ideas and designs clearly, positively and convincinglyYou respond gracefully to challenge, knowing when and how to influence effectively and when to accept directionYou’re organised and able to prioritise your workload in order to get the job done to the highest standardsYou’re a self-starter, and focus on solutions not problemsYou’re resilient in adapting to change and open to constructive feedbackYou'll be rewarded with:Competitive starting salary and great career prospects in a fast paced and growing business25 days holiday plus bank holidaysCompany-funded private health insurance and access to Smart HealthLife assuranceDiscretionary bonus scheme50% staff discountInterest-free Season ticket loanSummer hours - 3pm finishes every Friday throughout June, July & AugustBespoke induction support and ongoing development to help you thrive in your new roleA welcoming and inspiring work-environment - take advantage of Yoga classes, social activities, an early finish on pay day and more
