Role Information
The school is seeking a highly organised, meticulous Exams Officer to oversee the management, administration, and delivery of all internal and external examinations across the academic year. This role requires precision, compliance, calm under pressure, and excellent operational planning.
Key responsibilities include:
* Coordinating all aspects of external exams (GCSE, A Level, BTEC, vocational)
* Managing entries, registrations, exam timetables, and seating plans
* Liaising with exam boards, subject leaders, and senior leadership teams
* Ensuring full compliance with JCQ regulations and all awarding body policies
* Running internal mock exams, baseline assessments, and resit cycles
* Recruiting, training, and managing a team of invigilators
* Organising secure storage, stationery, papers, and scripts
* Collating and distributing results, post-results services, and candidate information
* Maintaining accurate student records and data on the school information system
* Preparing reports, statistics, and analysis for school leaders
This is a pivotal role requiring strong attention to detail, strategic thinking, and the ability to maintain calm and accuracy during high-pressure exam seasons.
Requirements
* Prior experience as an Exams Officer (or strong transferable admin experience)
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Good knowledge of JCQ processes (training provided if needed)
* Strong communication skills and professionalism when dealing with staff and students
* Ability to use MIS systems confidently (SIMS/Arbor desirable)
* Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise complex tasks
* Calm, resilient, and able to work under pressure during peak exam periods
* Commitment to safeguarding and compliance
