Permanent Consultant in Orthodontics

This Consultant post is a full-time post (10 PAs) based at York Hospital, with a weekly clinical commitment at Scarborough Hospital. We are open to discussion regarding flexible/less-than-full-time working. The successful candidate will participate in the Orthognathic and Orthodontic/Restorative MDTs and will carry out the full range of orthodontic consultations and treatments appropriate for secondary care.
Candidates must have an entry on the relevant GDC Specialist Register via: CCST (proposed CCST date must be within 6 months of interview) or has passed the ISFE in Orthodontics or will have successfully sat the ISFE within 6 months of the interview date.
The department is part of the Head and Neck & Plastics Directorate which sits in the Surgery Care Group. It is based in the Head and Neck outpatient department alongside Audiology, ENT, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Restorative Dentistry.

Main duties of the job
You will be working alongside two Orthodontic Consultant colleagues, with clinical commitments at York and Scarborough or York and Harrogate District Hospitals. There are clinical assistants, specialty dentists and orthodontic therapists across sites to support orthodontic treatment. The dental nursing team, secretary and reception team are highly capable and supportive. You will also work with two Restorative Dentistry Consultants and several Maxillofacial surgeons, two of whom undertake Orthognathic surgery planned with 3D guidance for single and bimaxillary procedures. Joint orthodontic/restorative patients have access to a full catalogue of treatment options including dental implants and related hard and soft tissue augmentation.
There are excellent teaching and research opportunities; the successful applicant will be involved in the supervision, teaching and training of specialty orthodontic registrars shared with Leeds Dental Institute and funded by HEE Yorkshire and Humber. The Trust is actively raising its research profile.

Essential
* Hold a licence to practise with the GDC
