Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Site Engineer in our Highways Division working on all elements of highways works (carriageway construction, surfacing, waterproofing structures, expansion joints, drainage, parapets, VRS, Ducting etc). Ideally you will be located close to Guilford area and be willing to cover the National Highways Area which could include Hampshire and Oxford. This role could be working both days and nights.
Key Responsibilities
* Setting out using total stations, GPS equipment, and to be able to undertake traditional setting out using profiles, batter rail and pegs.
* Read and review construction drawings.
* Undertake basic take-offs.
* Raise technical queries with designers and other members of the client team.
* Have a good commercial understanding and know the difference between cost and value.
* Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Minimum 2 years setting out experience working on infrastructure projects preferably with Highways with a main contractor.
* CSCS card in the appropriate discipline.
* SSTS card, First Aid, NRWSA and Cat and Genny.
* Education: Civil Engineering degree or equivalent (preferred).
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
* Strong leadership skills and understanding of construction practices.
* Good understanding of ITPs and quality assurance process.
* Ability to work independently.
