We are looking for an organised, confident and motivated Medical Secretary to join our friendly team at Ashley Centre Surgery.
Working within our modern town-centre practice, you will play an important role in supporting our GPs and clinicians, administrative team and patients by managing referrals, correspondence, and a wide range of secretarial duties.
This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week, to be worked across three days, which must include Thursday and Friday (the third day to be agreed).
About the role
As a Medical Secretary, you will be responsible for providing high-quality secretarial and administrative support across the practice, including:
* Producing letters, reports, referrals and clinical documentation (audio and copy typing)
* Providing secretarial support to GPs, the Practice Manager and other team members
* Managing referral workflows via eRS and other clinical systems
* Handling patient queries relating to referrals and medical correspondence
* Liaising with hospitals, community services and outside agencies
* Accurately maintaining patient records and coding clinical information
* Supporting the wider administrative team as required

About You
We're looking for someone who is:
* An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
* Highly organised, accurate and able to prioritise a busy workload
* Confident using IT systems (Microsoft Office essential; EMIS experience desirable)
* Able to work independently and as part of a supportive admin team
* Familiar with medical terminology
* Professional, patient-focused and helpful
Previous experience in a GP practice or medical secretarial role is an advantage but not essential for the right candidate with strong transferable skills.
