We're seeking an experienced and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant for a full-time position in a specialist school located in the Pontefract WF7 area. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in a SEND setting and who ideally holds Moving and Handling certification. Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with complex SEND needs, including ASD, SEMH and physical disabilities. Assist with personal care routines, ensuring dignity and safety at all times. Support learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and contribute to lesson delivery. Implement and review behaviour strategies and individual education plans (IEPs). Facilitate communication and social interaction, promoting independence and self-esteem. Ensure safeguarding policies are followed rigorously at all times. Ideal Candidate Requirements: Proven experience supporting children or young adults in a specialist SEND setting. Moving and Handling training is highly desirable. A good standard of written and spoken English. Ability to remain calm, patient and resourceful in challenging situations.
