Who You Are As a Property Lawyer, you are a qualified solicitor, barrister, or fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with the right to audience in County Courts. You possess recent advocacy experience in both County and Magistrates' Courts and have a solid background in commercial and residential property work, particularly within the local government framework. You are adaptable, with a positive 'can do' attitude, and demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and oral. You are detail-oriented, capable of working to tight deadlines, and committed to providing excellent customer care and service delivery. What the Job Involves This role involves conducting complex and routine conveyancing work, including large acquisitions and disposals, dealing with sales to council tenants, and managing agreements with housing associations. You ensure all transactions are authorized and comply with relevant legislation. You will handle correspondence related to easements, boundaries, and covenants while consulting with various stakeholders. This position also involves managing the compulsory purchase orders process, addressing objections, preparing for inquiries, and handling compensation claims. You contribute to service planning, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives and represent the council in legal proceedings when required. Office presence is preferred for at least two days a week due to the hybrid nature of the role.
