About the role
Do you want to work in a job that makes a difference to the local community and the people who live there? Working for the City of Doncaster Council as a Technical Assistant could be perfect for you.
This Technical Assistant role will be part of the Work and Skills Service, and every day you will have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of the residents of Doncaster. Your contributions will have a lasting impact and help shape the future of Doncaster.
This new post presents an exciting opportunity for a Technical Assistant to provide dedicated support to the Work and Skills Service, contributing to the delivery of innovative and evidence-based approaches across the Pathways to Work agenda.
Responsibilities
You will assist in collecting, analysing and interpreting data to inform service design and delivery, helping to inspire, engage and support employed, unemployed and economically inactive residents to access employment, training and skills. You will also support the evaluation of employer engagement activities, including inclusive employment practices and work simulation opportunities for programme participants.
You will play a key supporting role in ensuring the service remains insight-driven and responsive to local needs. You will help develop and maintain tools, templates and reporting systems that enable the team to monitor progress, measure impact and identify opportunities for improvement. Working collaboratively, you will also contribute to the delivery of outreach and engagement initiatives and events, as well as supporting the collation and analysis of data that helps identify skills gaps and informs development strategies. This is a hands‑on role where your technical and analytical skills will help drive continuous improvement and support the achievement of programme outcomes.
Background
Pathways to Work is South Yorkshire's approach to bringing about system-wide change, in order to support people to overcome barriers to (re)entering or remaining in the workplace. This approach focuses on aligning and integrating the delivery of health, employment and skills services to provide holistic, person‑centred support. Pathways to Work will align funding across the Economic Inactivity Trailblazer, Health Growth Accelerator, UK Shared Prosperity Fund (People and Skills), existing funded delivery and localised support offers, such as the Advance Employment Hub – to form a single, cohesive work and skills support system.
Locally in Doncaster we are commissioning services, working with partners and recruiting to key roles that help us to test, learn and innovate at a local level; embedding our relational approach to working with employers and communities to support residents to thrive in life and work.
Benefits
In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well‑being support and development opportunities.
