As one of the UK’s Distribution Network Operators, we play a critical role in the Great Grid Upgrade—supporting the delivery of accelerated strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) projects across England and Wales. We have an exciting opportunity for a Document Controller in our newly formed ASTI Projects team within Field Operations. Reporting to the PMO Lead, you’ll provide document control for complex multi-site projects to ensure the delivery of compliant and traceable project documentation. We offer flexibility on location, with the role based from any NGED depot within our licence areas: East Midlands, South West, West Midlands or Wales—agreed with the successful candidate. As part of our hybrid working approach, this role provides a blend of office, site and home working, with some occasional travel. Main Responsibilities Act as the main interface with the Main Works Contractor’s document controllers and systems, ensuring all contractual documents are managed in line with National Grid policies and procedures Ensure all documents are reviewed and approved by the appropriate individuals or functions before issue Maintain clear identification of document changes and revision status, ensuring all versions remain legible and easily traceable Prepare transmittal indexes where required Control, track and record documentation throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring a robust audit trail Prevent unintended use of obsolete documents and apply appropriate identification where documents are retained for reference Support the Project Team by securing required documentation from contractors and suppliers to meet project phase gates or commissioning requirements and any additional administration tasks Administer and maintain the SharePoint site, including access control, permissions, updates and audits Support continuous improvement across Information and Knowledge Management processes Maintain, review and audit the Records Retention Schedule The Ideal Candidate Proven experience working in a document control environment.
